New Neuphonix Review From Gary Byrne
02 Jul 2009
I have owned Krix Neuphonix speakers for nearly a year now and they never cease to impress me. I came across the Neuphonix about mid way through my search when I heard them at Terry Anderson Hi Fi - Newcastle. I was looking around to purchase a speaker I could live with into retirement. They got my attention especially when I returned for a good listen with my own music. What occurred to me was how musical they sounded - no harshness, extremely detailed and lots of clean body in the bass without being over blown. Modern "stuff" like America, Eagles, Diana Krall, Ben E King, Rene Marie and good classical, sounds just fantastic or sublime.
Some speakers at double the price and more, whilst still offering very good imaging and detail seemed to lack emotion. They could zing and zang but not WOW me in a emotional way. The Neuphonix's did provide me with the feeling of music and not just HiFi. They reminded me (though much cleaner) of my old B&W DM6's which had a massively built 12" driver and the first KELVAR driver midrange. At last a kettle drum was sounding like a kettle drum through the Krix Neuphonixs'. This, together with the sublime midrange and clean delicate treble all beautifully integrated, made my purchase of the Krix Neuphonix an easy choice.
At the time I was comparing speakers up to $10,000 mostly imported from USA, UK or Germany. After considerable evaluation the Krix stood out as fantastic value. The were comparable with the $5,000 to $10,000 range. Still very very good value as well as so musical and clean and dynamic.
Well done Krix. Highly Recommended.
